The idea for the Westend brand originated in 2008 from a casual conversation between serial entrepreneur Heikki “Hessu” Holvikari and Juha Lottonen, Finland’s best guitar maker. After three years of product development, Hessu and Juha were able to develop and build handmade guitars for home and studio environments that produced HiFi-quality sound.
In 2012, Hessu decided to enter the consumer electronics market and began developing a studio-quality, compact, wireless HiFi stereo system. Hessu wanted to develop a very small, portable product that would provide the best possible listening experience.
The product development took about seven years: trial and error, testing and retesting. After a few years, Kim Kaisti joined the team and developed solutions for electronic components. Together they finally succeeded in the almost impossible: a compact portable HiFi stereo system whose sound quality exceeded all expectations. In addition, the sound reproduced by the device could be changed and improved in unprecedented and unexpected ways.
